Theme: “You will be my witnesses” (Act 1:8)
Today, in the Delegation of Cameroon, there was the official lunching of the Bible Week which will run from 05-12 March 2017. The Theme chosen for this week is “You will be my witnesses” (Act 1:8).
The choice of this theme is in line with the 25th General Chapter which insisted that “we are missionaries, witnesses and messengers of the joy of the Gospel. It also concurs to our 2nd Assembly which insisted that we are “Missionaries on the Move”. In celebrating the Bible Week, we insist on the fact that Christ wants to give us an honorific mission, that of being his witnesses. This mission is a privilege and a special mark of confidence. He puts a lot of trust in us because first of all we need to receive a power, that of the Holy Spirit, that which with him on the day of his baptism, will descend on us. From there and only after that shall we be able to carry his mission to the end of the world.
The Bible week commenced in our Parishes and Communities with the intronization of the Bible. This involved praying, preaching and making processions with the Bible. It is placed in a very special place in our communities, preferably in front of the Altar for the rest of the Bible Week. The week’s activities involve conferences, seminars and lectio divina on the Book of the Acts of the Apostles and other Papal Documents, notably, Misericordia et Misera.
The Bible week organized on this note invites us to rediscover the sense of our mission of witnessing to the Joy of the Gospel through the action of the Holy Spirit.
